  1. I have learned many new things in one particular way. When a repair person comes to the house to make a repair, I ask if it’d be ok for me to observe so I can learn something new. I mention that I’m curious, and that my dad was a master mechanic and I learned a great deal through observation. I do not interrupt the worker with questions. When the project is complete, I might ask a question or two. I do not criticize. I always have a flashlight ready if he/she needs more light. I just want to become a more knowledgeable home owner. Workers seem to appreciate my willingness to learn and will often explain some of their process. Believe it or not, I’ve learned how to use different shovels without physically exhausting myself. I’ve learned a great deal about landscaping from my neighbors and friends who enjoy yardwork. I’ve learned to become a better listener and a more patient worker. I also like to sing. I make up songs to include my cat—show tunes. I also narrate exercise routines for her: focus on the breath as you stretch into your upward and downward cat pose. Use that core when you’re on your scratching pole. Use that pole; use every part of that pole. Then rest two, three, four and repeat with intention. It’s a fun house we have.
